About Company

Povi is a group of open-source enthusiasts from Estonia. We provide commercial support for various open-source projects and also develop our own products. We are also involved in smart-card and terminal-server business.

 

Philosophy

We firmly believe that software source code should be freely available for everyone for modification and customization. Viable businesses can be built upon deployment, support and furthering innovation on top of existing products. Ours strives to succeed with this exact strategy and Can-Do attitude.

Projects

We have started dozen open-source project by ourselves. Some of them because of our customers, some for fun. As with any open-source project - you are very much welcome to participate!

Manpremo is our remote management system designed to allow you to control dozens of computers with ease and power.

Dokbox is our online document composition and digital signature service.

 

Involvement

People of our company are involved in various Free and Open Source Software projects. Estobuntu is a remastered Kubuntu that uses Estonian language by default and supports Estonian ID-card out-of-the-box.

Services

Our team has had experience with wide area of open-source software and toolkits. We mostly specialize in web applications, desktop graphical user interface applications and consulting. Languages that we can handle perfectly well include Python, C, C++ and Java. Other buzzwords that we have expertise in include localization, cloud computing and remote systems management.

 

Software Development

We develop powerful Python based web applications using cutting edge technologies like Django, jQuery, etc. We also do graphical user interface applications based on Python and Qt4 for desktops and mobile platforms like Maemo. We are also interested in digital identity and digital signatures using SmartCards and similar solutions.

Terminal-servers

National Library of Estonia, Põlva Central Library and Tallinn University of Technology are using using our work to power their thin clients with optimized firmware and ID-card support.

 

Customized Ubuntu builds

Estonian Information Technology College and many others are using our customized Ubuntu builds to empower their open-source infrastructure.

 

Partners

Tigma, one of the biggest server retailers is working with us to improve ID-card support for terminal-server systems.

We are continuously working with Arvuti Traumapunkt, a major computer hardware vendor of Estonian educational institutions.
